Opera Shots

Presented by Opera Birmingham at The Hill Opera Center

Join Opera Birmingham in the parking lot of the Hill Opera Center as we kick off this season’s outdoor Opera Shots concert series!
Admission is free. Bring your own refreshments. Lawn chairs and coolers are welcome. For the health of our patrons, staff and performers, masks are required at the event, and social distancing will be in effect.
Opera Shots is our annual series of casual pop-up concerts throughout the community, held in unexpected places and designed to break down the stereotypes of opera. Opera Shots concerts feature members of the Opera Birmingham Chorus and surprise guest artists presenting an open-mic-style concert of the greatest hits of opera and musical theatre. The September 23rd Opera Shots will feature Savannah Bracewell, DeLee Benton, Dylan Hughes, Temperance Jones, Caitlyn Rodrigue, and Emily Scott, accompanied by Christy Vest on piano.  Selections will include “Je dis que rien ne m’epouvante” from Carmen, “Glitter and Be Gay” from Candide, and “Caro nome” from Rigoletto.
In the age of COVID-19, Opera Birmingham has adapted and is ready to continue bringing innovative entertainment opportunities to our community, so this season’s Opera Shots will continue to be mobile outdoor concerts! Opera Shots will take place monthly throughout the fall (October 22 & November 6) and will resume in the spring, as we pop up at unexpected locations all across the Birmingham Metro area.
