As Seen from Railroad Park

Presented by Birmingham Art Music Alliance at Railroad Park

Birmingham Art Music Alliance presents the Cahaba Saxophone Quartet in a performance of works inspired by Railroad Park. The program will take place in the park, at the 17th Street Plaza, and feature music by Lori Ardovino, Joel Scott Davis, Holland Hopson, Kenneth A. Kuhn, Joseph Landers, and Jasmine Young. Referents include the Birmingham skyline, the statue of Vulcan, echoes of the iron and steel industry from Red Mountain and the railroads, and the loss of the Birmingham Terminal Station which launched local preservation movements. Members of the Cahaba Sax Quartet are Lori Ardovino, Kim Bain, Jon Remley, and Sallie White.

The Birmingham Art Music Alliance is an autonomous nonprofit organization with the twofold mission of promoting music by Alabama composers and presenting concerts of recently created art music to communities in Birmingham and beyond. Members include local composers, professional performers, students, and enthusiasts who wish to preserve and maintain the long tradition of music as a living art form.

This program/project has been made possible by grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
