Musical theatre lovers will return to the Harlem Renaissance in New York City when Make It Happen Theatre Company, Inc. (MIH) brings Loften Mitchell’s jumping musical revue, Bubbling Brown Sugar, to the Carver Theatre June 24 and 25 at 7 p.m. This commemorative production will not only honor and celebrate the lives and contributions of the late Dr. Frank Adams and Mr. Bill Harris, two incredible Birmingham natives who dedicated themselves to young musicians and the MIH mission, but funds generated will help provide children of low-income families with scholarships to attend the 2016 MIH Summer Performing Arts Academy at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute.
A lively and inspiring musical under the direction of MIH Founder and Artistic Director, Alicia Johnson-Williams, Bubbling Brown Sugar swings and soars as the Birmingham cast transports its audience back to 1920’s Harlem to explore the music and artists of the age, while celebrating the style, life, wisdom and glamour they brought to the Harlem landscape.
