History of Jazz: An Experiment in Visual Storytelling. Art exhibit featuring fifty new works from Craig Legg, documenting the colorful history of jazz from 19th century ragtime roots to 1960’s Free Jazz improvisations. Acrylic painting, carved styrofoam sculpture, papier mache, mixed media, found-object collage. Pieces on ragtime, New Orleans style, Dixieland, swing, big band, bebop, Cu-bop, hard bop, cool jazz, European Django, Latin jazz, hipster jazz, beatnik poets, Japanese jazu kissa etc. Exhibit to show through July and August. Free and open to the public. OPENING FRIDAY JULY 8, 5-8pm. Gallery open Saturdays in July from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, other viewings available by appointment or chance openings.
