Bombshell Ball

Bombshell Ball

Presented by Southern Museum of Flight at Southern Museum of Flight

Friday, August 26th, from 7:00 – 10:00 PM., the Southern Museum of Flight will have the annual Bombshell Ball supporting the Mary Alice Beatty Scholarship

“Bombshell”, a 1940’s word to define a beautiful woman, is now used to define and celebrate powerful women in our community raising awareness and money for young women in aviation and aerospace technology. The 2016 Bombshells have created a calendar to support the $5,000 Mary Alice Beatty scholarship.  We will reveal the calendar produced by Drew Burke and Melissa Shannon of Birmingham Pinups and designed by Colin Nekritz that evening.  Help the Bombshell’s reach their $5,000 goal and purchase a calendar.  Calendars will be on hand for sale that evening or can be pre-ordered when you purchase an event ticket for pickup at the event.  Help honor the Bombshell Cover Winners, Dana and Wendy Rose, who raised the most for the scholarship!

In the spirit of 1945, pay tribute to the end of WWII (Aug. 15), we encourage all to dress in 1940’s attire, military dress and USO fashion. Here’s a helpful link to get you started.  Your ticket includes one drink ticket at the canteen, appetisers, games, Ladies Night Out! vocal jazz group, a free Swing Dance lesson from Steel City Swing with live band, The Old Fashioned Rhythm Method.

Meet the real historic Rosie the Riveters and Rosebuds at the American Rosie the Riveter Association Booth and assist Operation Gratitude and write letters to our troops over seas. Purchase the 2016-2017 Bombshell Pinup calendar for the scholarship and apply to be considered for the 2017-2018 calendar.  Mary Alice Beatty Carmichael will be available to sign copies of her mother’s book, “To Love the Sky”, also available for pre-sale or at the ball.
