Join author Tania De’Shawn and therapist Shekinah Lee for an evening of poetry, self-love, and deep dive discussion all on the topic of positive body image in the black community.
Tania De’Shawn’s new book of poetry, be gentle with black girls, addresses adultification bias, black femininity, body image, and the fragility of black girlhood. Hear a live reading from her debut book of poetry followed by a discussion about body image and its impact on black girlhood with co-panelist Shekinah Joy Lee, a pre-licensed professional, and NNC-certified counselor.
This program is free and open to the public. Discussions may be tough on matters not intended for children. Young adults and older are welcome. There will be a book signing and books for sale afterward. T-shirts will be for sale, too.
This event is family-friendly and free for all participants!
