CCA 1 Grades 2 – 5, Beginner Studio, Mondays 4:00 – 6:00 pm

City Center Art Level 1 is a beginner level art studio class for youth in grades 2 – 5. This class is for the child that displays a simple interest in art making and a commitment to attending weekly classes. SOE will help your child learn basic skills and knowledge of art. CCA 1 will be taught according to SOE’s studio-based teaching philosophy, in which artist teachers aid the production of each child’s creative ideas by engaging them with the studio and teaching the fundamentals of technique needed to help each child’s individual project succeed. In CCA 1 each young artist will learn:

Basic color theory
Basic rendering skills
A basic understanding of 3D space
Studio manners and maintenance
Beginner level art history

CCA 2 Grades 6 – 8, Intermediate Studio, Wednesdays 4:00 – 6:00 pm

City Center Art Level 2 is an intermediate art studio class for youth in grades 6 – 8. This class is for the child who wishes to improve their art making skills and is committed to attending weekly classes. SOE will work with your child to improve upon their individual skill level and ensure that the student is equipped with the proper fundamentals and techniques of art. In CCA 2 each young artist will learn:

Intermediate drawing skills
An intermediate understanding of 3D space
Art studio vocabulary
Intermediate level art history
How to critique and formally evaluate their own artwork and the artwork of their peers
