September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Sister City Connection is hosting a Spoken Word event for the benefit of CanSurvive > Birmingham GYN Cancer Support Group AND Bust a Move > Local team for Komen 3-Day, 60 Mile Walk to end breast cancer in Atlanta, Oct. 7-9.
Suggested donation $5 – $20.
Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and soft beverages (coffee, tea, sparkling water). Bring your own wine, if desired. Coffee house seating. Ambient lighting.
Join us for an inspiring evening featuring poignant stories of SURVIVAL, TRANSFORMATION and RENEWAL. Performances start at 6:30 p.m.
Featured poets, spoken word artists and readers are Neko Linda, Alicia Clavell, Shaunteka LaTrese, Jennifer Sanders, Lori Lasseter, Salaam Green, Anne Bailey, Joi Miner, Scarlett Bradford, Natalya Drake, Renee Smith, Cheryl Bourn, Mindy Santo, Ginny Bourland and Karen Shayne.
Scarlett Bradford is the principal coordinator of the benefit. Sister City Connection and Beloved Community Church are hosting the reading and event.
