With guest organist Stefan Engels, the Independent Presbyterian Church Choir offers a “Service of Light” of music and reflective readings.
In the beautiful setting of glorious light reflected by the majestic windows of the sanctuary, come bask in the scent, sight, and sound of choral and organ music that is ethereal and colorful. At times the music suggests anxiety but returns to a place of rest. Reflective readings will inspire and clear your mind as you rest in the Heart of God.
Stefan Engels is professor of organ at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Engels joined SMU from one of Europe’s oldest and most prestigious musical institutions, the University of Music and Performing Arts “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig, Germany, where he served as professor of organ from 2005 until 2015. He is an advocate and specialist for the music of the late Romantic German composer Sigfrid Karg-Elert, founding the Karg-Elert Festival in Leipzig that is devoted to demonstrating and discovering the unique works of this Leipzig composer.
This event will take place in the sanctuary. Livestreaming can be viewed on our YouTube channel under IPC Birmingham.
