Alabama Waldorf School is a private, non-denominational school located in the Crestwood area. We have a preschool that serves Nursery age (2.5-4) and Kindergarten age (4-6) children and an Elementary and Middle School that serves Grades 1-8. Waldorf education was founded by Austrian scientist and philosopher Rudolf Steiner who believed that the whole child should be educated: head, heart, and hands. To this end, our curriculum boasts two foreign languages (Russian and Spanish), handwork, music, painting/drawing, and a full slate of academic subjects. Graduating students go on to be successful at Altamont School, Indian Springs School, Shades Valley Theater Academy/Visual Arts Academy/Finance Academy, ASFA, Homewood, Mountain Brook, and Hoover. Tuition adjustment is available to working parents.
