The Birmingham Fern Society was founded in 1975 for the purpose of promoting interest in ferns and their culture and of maintaining the Fern Glade within the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Monthly meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month (except December)and are open to the public. Volunteers work with ferns in the Fern Glade or in the greenhouses at the botanical gardens on regular work days: the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesdays; the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month (except December). The Public is invited to attend meetings or work sessions.
