About Our Shag Club:

The Beach Shaggers of Birmingham shag club was formed in 1992 as a social dance club to promote the Carolina Shag dance. Our club is a member of the Association of Carolina Shag Clubs, an organization of over 100+ shag clubs stretching from Tampa to Boston, but mainly in the Carolina’s. Our local Birmingham club membership averages 150 members per year.

Where and When do we dance:

The Beach Shaggers of Birmingham shag club dances every Tuesday night (with a few exceptions) at Kelly Ingram VFW located at 1801 11th avenue North. There is now a $5.00 door charge for all non-members. Weekly FREE dance lessons for beginners start at 6:30 pm, these usually last a half/hour. Dancing starts around 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. The VFW has a well stocked bar (good drink prices). No other foods are served. Popcorn from bar and vending machine available or bring snacks. Huge dance floor!!! The VFW is now a no-smoking facility.
