Camp Fire USA offers after-school care, camping, and in-school programs for the children of central Alabama communities. With a mission to “build caring, confident youth and future leaders,” programs focus on promoting character and leadership through experience. Youth learn to make healthy and safe choices, give service, plan responsibly for the future, resolve conflicts, build positive relationships, and practice compassion. In-school programs are brought to local K–12 classrooms through partnerships with educators and counselors in area schools (Bessemer City Schools, Birmingham City Schools, Catholic Schools-Diocese of Birmingham, Homewood City Schools, Hoover City Schools, Jefferson County Schools, Shelby County Schools, Tarrant City Schools, and Vestavia Hills City Schools). Out-of-school programs (after-school care, camping, and club) are offered at Camp Fire sites in Jefferson County, Tallapoosa County, and Birmingham’s West End/Arlington neighborhood.
