The School of the Arts offers majors in aspects of art, graphic design, theatre, church music, music education, music theatre, instrumental music (band and orchestra), theory, music history, vocal/choral music, piano, pedagogy, organ and composition. Minors include art, theatre, music, dance, film and the arts. The school offers graduate degrees in church music, music education, and a new degree in piano performance and pedagogy. The preparatory music department offers applied lessons and theory courses for the community and provides a valuable labratory for students considering careers in teaching. Record enrollments and outstanding talent characterize the progress of our programs, but the success of Samford arts students is defined by the personal experience afforded each individual and the mentorship invested by our faculty in the lives of every student.

The students and faculty of the School of the Arts are a community of artists working together in areas of art, graphic design, interior architecture, theatre, dance, church music, music education, music theatre, opera, instrumental music (band, jazz and orchestra), theory, music history, vocal/choral music, piano, piano pedagogy, organ, composition and the preparatory music department.
The Samford Arts community is distinguished by the accomplishments of faculty, students and alumni who carry the scholarship and creative activity of the university around the world. Samford artists, actors and musicians guide national and international arts organizations, perform in the world’s greatest venues and help prepare the next generation of arts students. Whether producing a Tony award–winning Broadway show, performing a leading role at the Metropolitan Opera or serving as an embedded photojournalist in the Iraqi war, Samford artists represent the highest standards of achievement and character. They demonstrate that faith truly enhances the quality and impact of our talent and work.
