CureSearch for Children’s Cancer is a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support children’s cancer research and provide information and resources to all those affected by children’s cancer. CureSearch supports clinical trials research at more than 180 local hospitals across the United States, including the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center. These hospitals participate in National Cancer Institute sponsored clinical trials conducted by the Children’s Oncology Group. Through the CureSearch Investigational Research Initiative, CureSearch also funds basic and translational research that offers the greatest potential to design treatments and improve outcomes for children with difficult-to-treat cancers. In addition to funding clinical research, CureSearch for Children’s Cancer also supports patients and families by providing tools designed to help them through the cancer experience.

  • CureSearch.org is an online resource for patients, their families and support systems. The website provides up-to-date information about the various types of children’s cancer along with research trials, definitions and descriptions of tests, procedures and treatments and information to help families manage the emotional aspects of caring for a child with cancer.
  • The Family Handbook is distributed to families via COG hospitals and is a three-ring binder with information to guide parents through all of the stages of their child’s cancer, from diagnosis to treatment and into survivorship.
  • The Hope and Help Journal is a spiral bound notebook given to parents when their child is diagnosed and is designed as a place for parents to write and track questions and details related to their child’s treatment. The Journal also contains a list of questions to ask when parents first learn their child has cancer.

To reach our goal of 100% cure rate for children with cancer, CureSearch is mobilizing individuals, families and corporations across the nation to join our efforts. CureSearch has Regional Offices throughout the country that organize events and activities to raise funds for research on behalf of children living with cancer. There are many ways you can help fight children’s cancer, such as joining the CureSearch Walk or one of our many other events, starting your own event or joining your local Fundraising Council.
