History
In October 2011, the officers of the Samford University Auxiliary unveiled a new name: Legacy League, an Auxiliary of Samford University. The name was adopted in recognition of the long and distinguished history of support of the university by women — a legacy that lives on in material improvements to the campus, but more importantly, through the lives of students who receive scholarships.

The roots of the Legacy League can be traced to 1902, when the Howard College Co-operative Association was created to "cooperate with the board of trustees and president of the college in raising funds for the endowment and better equipment of the university." Successful projects carried out by missionary societies of several denominations created the momentum for the organization of the Howard College Auxiliary, which was formally founded by 16 women in 1925. The auxiliary supported Howard College, and later Samford University, by providing landscaping and furnishings, and meeting other needs as they arose. The organization later began offering need-based scholarships, which is now the primary mission of the Legacy League.
