History
The King’s House was started in 1972 by Anne D. Kidd and Jane H.Glasser. In 1974, Anne Kidd moved the business to Mountain Brook Village where it remained until 2008. Upon her retirement in 1997, the tradition of the King’s House was continued by her daughter-in-law, Susan M. Kidd, who joined the company in 1988. When not buying for and managing the King’s House, Susan could be found teaching The History of Period Furnishings and Antiques at Southern Institute of Interior Design, where she also received a degree in interior design. She continued to teach for 13 years.
