This large-scale mosaic covers the east wall of the Boutwell Auditorum above the Fountain Walk. The mural is made up of 28,000 individual tiles made from local clay which are embedded in concrete panels that are mounted onto a steel frame. The mural weighs over 112 tons and illustrates a colorful “mythical dragon” rising up out of Birmingham’s industrial past.
