Oasis Women’s Counseling Center, a nonprofit organization and a United Way partner, supports the emotional well-being of women and children in the Birmingham, Alabama, metropolitan area including the counties of Jefferson, Shelby, Blount, St. Clair and Walker. A provider of mental health services and educational programs since 1995, Oasis’ history centers on a compassionate commitment to the community.

Oasis provides high-quality, affordable, mental health counseling to women who do not have adequate resources to obtain care from private practitioners. Oasis fills a critical gap in care for these women with limited incomes who could not otherwise afford vital mental health services. One of the few counseling centers in the state of Alabama devoted exclusively to women and children, Oasis provides:

     Innovative educational groups.
A safe, peaceful, home-like environment in which women and children can heal and grow.

Skilled providers of many therapy techniques, our counselors provide mental health treatment for depression, grief, trauma, anxiety, anger, and stress, resulting from divorce, single-parenting, sexual assault, domestic abuse, substance abuse, loss of a loved one, loss of a job, physical disabilities and many other life challenges or transitions.

Oasis is one of the few women’s counseling centers in the state, providing services to women throughout the life span, from the very young to the very wise.

Oasis’ core mission is designed for women who are encountering obstacles in their lives either because of challenging circumstances or normal life transitions. Oasis’ staff includes a clinical psychologist, licensed professional counselors, two play therapists, and a marriage and family therapist.

Oasis provides individual, couples, group, and family counseling, as well as play therapy. Fees are determined on the basis of a sliding fee scale which begins at just $10 per session.
