Black Man Self Love

This mural came about as apart of the HBCU SpringComing 2022 edition festival. Three artists that are either Alabama-based or HBCU alumni banded together to create three murals with the theme being “The Overcoming.” E.L. Chisolm, one of the three artists, said “These murals are to display the forward movement of black people.” This particular mural was created by E.L. Chislom herself and serves as a celebration of self love in the black community. It’s inspired by how most men aren’t celebrated until after they have passed away; it is a call to celebrate these men in the present.
