John Lewis

This beautiful mural honors civil rights hero John Lewis on the side of Gus’s Hot Dogs. The owner, Lee Pantazis, wanted a mural on the side of his business, and he wanted one that would emphasize the value and power of education. He said, “This is a man that made the world better. We should all be striving to have the same positive impact that he did.” John Lewis participated in the lunch counter sit-ins as a college student. He helped organize the Selma to Montgomery March for voting rights, which led to Congress passing the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
