Jim McClintock to be featured at Bham Now's The BOLD Speaker Series

How is the drought in Alabama connected to the ice in the Antarctic?  Come find out from Dr. Jim McClintock.

Join Bham Now Tuesday, Dec. 6th upstairs at Avondale Brewery to hear about Jim McClintock’s 15th upcoming exploration to the Antarctic. Jim will tell us what the Antarctic has in common with the drought in Alabama. Doors open at 5pm for networking. Program runs from 6 – 7pm. Hand-in-Paw will be the local benefiting charity so 10% of all ticket sales.

James McClintock, Ph.D., a biology professor in the UAB’s College of Arts and Sciences, has been named as an Explorers Club fellow.  Fellowship in the organization signifies McClintock’s significant scientific contributions to the field of geographical exploration.The Explorers Club was founded in 1904 to unite explorers through fellowship and to promote field research, furthering the instinct to explore. 

McClintock is an authority on the effects of climate change in Antarctica which is detailed in his book Lost Antarctica – Adventures in a Disappearing Land,. Since 1989 McClintock has led or co-directed fourteen scientific expeditions with the United States Antarctic Program (USAP) in which he and his research collaborators have become the world’s authorities on Antarctic marine chemical ecology. McClintock has published over 200 scientific publications, and co-edited and co-authored several books related to a multitude of aspects dealing with marine invertebrates.
