The 2016 November Organ Recital Series concludes on November 27 with Music for Organ and Brass, with Dr. Jeff R. McLelland as the organist. Jeff R. McLelland, DMA has been the Director of Music and Fine Arts at Independent Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) since 2000. A native of Mississippi, McLelland received diplomas in Organ Performance from The University of Southern Mississippi, The Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester, and The University of Alabama. He worked as a professor of music for seventeen years at William Carey College and Mississippi College teaching organ, piano, choir, music history and music theory. As a concert organist, McLelland has performed throughout the United States and Europe in such venues as Salisbury Cathedral England, St. Stephans Cathedral Vienna, Bamberg Cathedral Germany, and at the St. Wenzel Church in Naumberg, Germany. A winner of numerous awards and competitions, McLelland has gone on to serve local and national committees for the American Guild of Organists and the Music Teachers National Association, representing the southeast United States. He has directed the IPC Choir on four trips to Europe since 2004. The choir is well represented on recordings with thirteen releases since 1965, most recently The Lord is My Light (2007), A Babe is Born (2010), and O Clap Your Hands (2016).
