Organ Recital - Maxine Thévenot

The 51st  annual November Organ Recital Series at Independent Presbyterian Church continues on November 15 with a recital by Maxine Thévenot. Dr. Thévenot was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, and serves as the Director of Cathedral Music and Organist at the Cathedral of St. John, Albuquerque, New Mexico. There, she is responsible for the four Cathedral Choirs, The Friends of Cathedral Music series, the commissioning program and takes the choirs on national and international tours. In addition to her work as a choral director, she maintains a distinguished international career as an organ recitalist and has performed throughout Europe, Great Britain, and North America at many prestigious churches, concert halls and festivals. An advocate of new music, she has given several world premieres and recorded many works for the first time. First Prize-winner in the 2001 Canadian Bach Organ competition and frequent performer in the national and regional conventions of the AGO and RCCO, Maxine Thévenot holds degrees from the University of Saskatchewan (Bachelor of Music in Music Education) and the Manhattan School of Music (Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts). She is also an Associate of the Royal Canadian College of Organists and the Royal Conservatory of Music.
