Stop Kiss is the third show of Birmingham Festival Theatre’s “All You Need Is Love” Season. It is a poignant comic drama written by American playwright Diana Son that tells the touching story of Callie, a traffic reporter in New York City, and Sara, a new schoolteacher from St Louis, coming to work in The Bronx. While making their way in 1998 New York City, their paths cross and hearts become entangled. Sharing confidences about their careers, boyfriends, and families their relationship grows deeper until a sudden event changes their lives forever. Stop Kiss is a contemporary story about the thrills of love and perils of intolerance, and the unexpected bright and dark places to which love and life can take us.
Stop Kiss is directed by Sandra Taylor and stars Rhonda Erbrick, Beth Posey, Thomas “Diego” Faulkner, Michael Wilson, Penny Thomas and Joseph Horst. The production team is composed of Kay Thompson (stage manager), Paul Huie (stage manager assistant & props), Mindy Egan (set design & technical director), Sally Montgomery (costume design), Chris Fisher (board op) and Chalo Gurmendi (production manager).
The show will run Thursday, March 16, 2017 through Saturday, April 8, 2017. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 pm and matinee performances on Sunday, March 26th and Sunday, April 2nd at 2 pm. There will be a reception following opening night and a forum with director, cast and members of PFLAG, The Magic City Acceptance Center and UAB GRADient following the performance on Friday, March 24.
