Free or Reduced Tuition – Through our scholarship application, fees are based on a sliding scale. As a result, families may qualify for free or reduced tuition through the generosity of foundations and private contributors.
City Center Art 1 (Grades 2-5)
Students work in a variety of mediums such as paint, clay, charcoal, and ink. Young artists will learn:
Drawing skills
Color theory
Conceptual thinking skills
Art history
How to formally evaluate their own artwork and the artwork of others
Studio maintenance
City Center Art 2 (Grades 6-8)
Students review and build on the skills learned during CCA 1 and continue to explore new art mediums.
Each student will work at their own pace and improve their art-making skills. In addition, young artists who wish to apply to the Alabama School of Fine Arts will receive guidance during the application process including portfolio review and development.
City Center Art 3 (Grades 9-12)
City Center Art 3 is Space One Eleven’s rigorous multi-media art class for high school students that is designed to build visual communication skills and foster creative thinking. Students will learn and strengthen foundation skills such as observational skills and technical control of various art mediums, and further their understanding of art theory and art history. With guidance from the teaching artist, students will develop and execute individually conceived projects.
In addition, young artists will learn about art-related careers and opportunities. Juniors and seniors receive guidance for college applications and essays while building visual arts portfolios to increase college opportunities.
All skill levels are welcome. Students are welcome to join the art class any time during the school year if seats are available. Class cost will be pro-rated for those who join later in the semester.
