Alabama Ballet Presents Ovation

Ovation is a mixed repertory performance featuring all female choreographers for the first time. Alabama Ballet will present two contemporary pieces, an original work by Chicago-based artist Donnette Cannonie and the U.S. premiere of Requiem by German-based artist Anna Vita.

Requiem, set to Mozart, explores the confrontation with death, the end of the earthly existence and the mystery of a possible further existence in another form. Vita designs her choreography as a successful interplay of dreamlike movement and stills reminiscent of paintings. In the end it is the combination of movement and beauty, of light and sound, that makes the choreography of Requiem an exciting experience for the audience.

Ovation highlights the Alabama Ballet dancer’s versatility, strength and artistry while showcasing bold and creative original contemporary works.
