BHEC Holocaust Speaker Series Presents Holocaust Survivor Eva Kor

Holocaust survivor Eva Kor, who spent nearly a year in the Auschwitz concentration camp, endured excruciating experiments by the infamous Nazi doctor, Josef Mengele. Eva survived because she promised herself “to do anything and everything in my power” to ensure she and her sister Miriam would leave Auschwitz alive. 

Eva said that, in the years since, she has learned to forgive the Nazis as well as others who have hurt her. She often tells the story of writing a letter of forgiveness to a Nazi doctor 50 years after liberation. This, Eva says, was “an act of self-healing and self-liberation.” 

The BHEC and Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church are excited to bring Eva to Birmingham to tell her story and talk about her lessons of forgiveness. Eva currently lives in Terre Haute, Indiana, and this will be her first speaking engagement in Birmingham. This event is a fundraiser for the BHEC.

Eva Kor will be signing her book, “Surviving the Angel of Death” after her talk.
