Learn the mystery of creating a mixed-media flexible and durable vegan covered content laden collage books in this bookbinding workshop – We will create a large book arts narrative book object using an adaptive limp vellum structure with folded sections sewn both on and off supports. We will use various sewing patterns, spine working, and linings, adhesives, and a wide variety of materials to collage, create, and bind an amazing compendium of collaged and sewn stories.
Doug will supply: Adhesives, Pastes, all book block materials, and some cover options! I will provide the correct waxed linen thread to students who don’t have it.
Students will bring
1. Minimum of 4 Decorative 8×11 inch or larger papers for endpapers and covers- bring more for collage and content-making
2. Awl, bone folder, circular sewing needles, scissors, pencil, ruler, cutting mat, wax paper, collage materials, glue brush, and Tupperware tray for PVA. And other adhesives Doug will supply.
3. Bring various and additional collage or decorative papers, paints, and whatever image-making supplies you use – I typically use some transfer-type images if you want to bring gel medium, color/ black and white Xeroxes of your choice. Please bring any other supplies you might want to work with!
