Pre-Screening of "Myth" a Ukrainian Documentary Film

Birmingham Sister Cities Commision and the UAB Department of International Studies would like to invite you to attend Ukrainian documentary “Myth” screening and post-film discussion that will take place on December 14, 2017, at 6 pm in the UAB Hill Center’s Alumni Theater, 1400 University Blvd, Birmingham, AL.

 The documentary concerns the life of Wassyl Slipak, a famous Ukrainian world opera singer who gave up his success and fortune in France in order to join the volunteer Ukrainian defense forces when Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014. Wassyl gave up his life in defense of his country’s freedom when he was killed in combat action by a sniper in 2016. Find out more about “Myth” in the trailer.

“Myth” will be presented by the film director Leonid Kanter who is coming from Ukraine specifically for pre-release screenings in Birmingham, AL as well as other U.S. cities. “Myth” is scheduled for official release in January 2018 in Kyiv, Ukraine.
