Scheherazade tells the age-old tale of One Thousand and One Nights, in which the titular Scheherazade prolongs her life by spinning intriguing tales for her tyrannical husband each night.
Scheherazade is represented by a beautiful lyrical violin solo and the lilting motion of the sea comes in the form of the undulating cello and violin sections. Violinist Tessa Lark returns to perform alongside the orchestra once again; her amazing talents will be showcased in the world premiere of Music Director Carlos Izcaray’s Violin Concerto, a work composed specifically for her.
