See the Stories: The Human Side of Medicaid Expansion

As Alabama remains one of the last states to not expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act in 2012, a coverage gap exists for individuals who out-earn the $4,476 per year for a family of three, but under the $23,030 required to be eligible for a subsidized health plan from Healthcare.gov. Expanding Medicaid would help over 250,000 people get access to health insurance and medical care.

This event features a panel of individuals impacted by this coverage gap, researchers studying the impact of Medicaid expansion, and physicians who see the health implications of uninsured populations.
