Join us for an evening of dance as two of the inaugural MFA candidates from the University of Alabama debut their choreographic works.
“Drifting Circles”, choreographed by Bria Tyner, explores the body language of the imposter phenomenon in black women who navigate dance programs within higher education.
“My Father’s House” choreographed by Derreck Williams, explores the lived experiences of African American men in HBCU majorette dance and the ways in which social and cultural understandings of gender and sexuality affect the perceptions of black men.
