UAB kicks off the season against the University of Central Arkansas. UCA opened the 2019 slate by defeating WKU 35-28 in Bowling Green. The Bears would go on to finish 9-4 overall and were crowned Co-Champions of the Southland Conference. They earned the No. 8 national seed in the FCS Playoffs in 2019, but were upset in the second round by Illinois State.
