We gather the Motorcycle community with families from around the state, who have children that have been diagnosed with cancer, at the Barber Motorsports Park where there is facepainting, Mickey & Minnie Mouse etc for the kids, and Swag bags for the Rider’s.
The Rider’s also get to do laps on the World Famous Track, before enjoying lunch provided by: Rusty’s BBQ in Leeds, Bud’s Best Cookies & Coca-Cola, and up until this year, Golden Flake, but since they are closing the Birmingham location, we are now looking for an alternative chips replacement.
After lunch there is a Police Escorted Ride to the Zoo, where the Star families are given a day … to just be kids. They have all had much of their childhood robbed from them due to cancer, so they deserve a day to forget about all that for a while and just be a kid!
We are Very Proud & Blessed to have ABC-33/40 & 106.9 the Eagle as supporters and ALTEC is our major supporter that makes it possible for us to hold this event in a location in the park that is conducive to hosting our families. There will be a raffle for a pair of weekend passes to the Barber Vintage Festival ALL proceeds from the Zoo Run Safari For Children’s event go % To:
Children’s of Alabama. There will be event T-Shirts for sale on-line prior to the event from: Big Daddy Stitches. Also, Saturday, October the 21st, is the date for the Zoo Run Safari for Children’s Raffle/Booze Raffle at: The American Legion Post #107 in Leeds.
These kids faces light up when they see all these motorcycles and people who showed up in support of them. So let’s give them something that will really light them up… and let’s fill the parking lot!!
Footnote:
The Zoo is only doing a $10.00 entrance fee.
They are not letting anyone in free this year…. Not even our families, but we’ll cover the families out of the registration money.. that is supposed to be going to Children’s of Alabama. We regret that we aren’t able to let the riders in free this year or cover them as it would result in losing almost half of our donation monies raised. You will be able to pay $10.00 at the Zoo if you would like to go in.
