Oneonta is located 35 miles NE of Birmingham and is nestled in the heart of beautiful Murphree’s Valley in the eastern part of Blount County. It was incorporated on February 18th, 1891 and became the county seat in 1897.
Oneonta was once a small town made up of a train depot (which has been moved and fully renovated), post office, telegraph office, three stores, and only twelve residents. At the 2010 census we had a population of 6,567. Over the years, Oneonta has expanded to support its rising
